It is very beneficial to have a high intensity session each week that combines running and weights.

Training session like this one are great for strength gains and injury prevention.

Program:

  • 2 minutes of running (treadmill or outside)
  • Burpees for 1 minute
  • 2 minutes of running
  • Bench Dips for 1 minute
  • 2 minutes of running
  • Mountain Climber for 1 minute
  • 2 minutes of running
  •  Weighted Crunches for 1 minute
  • 2 minutes of running
  • Jump squats for 1 minute (burn that backside)
  • 2 minutes of running
  • Weighted Ball slams for 1 minute
  • 2 minutes of running
  • Push ups with a clap for 1 minute
  • 2 minutes of running
  • warm down with a 7 minute walk and some stretches.

 

Now remember to not rest much in between the exercises and to run as hard as you possible can for your 2 minutes hits. This is a hard session and it wont take you long but the benefits are worth every second.  Sip water when necessary and remember to breathe through your weight exercises. Now this session will be best performed with a friend or a group of friends. Have some loud music pumping and encourage each other to get through it.
