Weight Training Circuit To Improve Your Running

Weight Training is essential for anyone and everyone. Runners that includes you.

Weight Training builds strength, improves balance and co ordination which improves your running.

The Weight Circuit combines strength or balance exercise with interval running. I use a One to One ratio. One Minute of weights with 1 min of Running. This type of training is high intensity and will push you out of your comfort zone. But it is so worth it.

Weight Circuit:

  • 400 metre Run
  • Jump Squats  for 1 min
  • 200 meter Run
  • Lateral Raises  for 1 min
  • 200 meter Run
  • Walk forward with hands to lying flat, then walk hands back in x 1 min
  • 200 meter Run
  • 10 kg Medicine Ball Slams for 1 min
  • 200 meter Run
  • Bicep to Press for 1 min
  • 200 meter Run
  • Weighted Abdominal Crunches for 1 min
  • 200 meter Run
  • Burpee for 1 min
  • 200 meter Run
  • Walk 500 meter to Cool Down.
  • Stretch.

 

This Circuit can be completed at home or in the gym with some friends. It is sometimes better and more motivating to exercise in small groups of friends. You will push yourself harder and enjoy the session more.
