5 Reasons Why You Should Run For Your Soul.

Running for your soul is more important than just running for your body. And in all honestly, if you run for your soul you are more likely to stick with it!

 

  1. Running allows time for meditation.

I love mediating to the beat of my feet whilst running. That constant beat, that allows my body to relax and my mind to switch off with unnecessary thoughts. Running clears my head, it relieves stress and I start to feel centred again. Life can get very hectic at times and my brain starts to feel over stimulated and jittery. Running is my calmness and even though my body is exerting itself, my mind is calming down. This may sound extremely weird to those who don’t run but to other runners this is one of the major reasons why we always run. Running is a form of meditation and it is so beneficial to your soul.

2. Running challenges you in a good way.

Running is definitely not easy but it is addictive because it will always challenge you every step of the way. No run every feels the same. Some days the legs feel great and your breathing is laboured. Other days the legs feel heavy and don’t want to move and you are struggling to breathe. That is the amazing way that running is so addictive and challenging. Trust me! Never feels the same. The great days when everything clicks and you are running perfectly and you feel absolutely amazing and other days you feel like absolute shit but still run to clear the head. Like I said, it is challenging. But that is exactly why runners continue to run………. the “Runners High”. For those non runners out there, the runners high is an amazing feeling and you have to achieve it to believe it.

3.Running Makes You Happy.

Happiness is a feeling, a thought and a place of balance and vitality. Running is all of that and more, especially to me. It feels great to run, which makes me happy. It balances the mind and the body to which happiness prevails.

 

4.Running Keeps You Humble.

I am not the competitive runner at all. Yes I compete to improve myself but like most things in life, it is about the journey not always the end result. Results are great, don’t get me wrong, but they are not the be all and end all. Fall in love with the journey and not just the competition. That way you will stick at it for longer. and always remember it is your journey, not someone else’s. I say this to myself all the time, especially when a 65yr old half marathoner passes me in a race. Ha ha ha some of you are laughing I know but seriously some of them are amazing runners. Look, don’t get me wrong I really don’t  mind  that they do pass me, it makes me so humble. It gives me perspective and appreciation of others and myself. And it brings runners together as a community. It encourages me, makes me think of all the amazing running i can achieve when I eventually grow up!

 

5.Running Makes You Proud

Proud is that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. Finishing what you started when you initially set off for a run.  you wont know the feeling until you try running. Follow my learn to love running blog for some helpful tips and tricks.

 

I can’t really say much to finish this because you wont believe me until you try it for yourself. Running is a very individual sport and the feelings and happiness associated with it differs for everyone. Don’t just believe my word for it, you have to give it a go and actually get out there and run more for yourself……. and guess what you will most likely love it!
